Ref ID: 03650-0011726077Classification: Director of AccountingCompensation: DOERobert Half is working with a well established client in the Sandpoint, Idaho area to fill a Director of Accounting position. What you get to do every day: • Drive the development of actions to improve accounting operations efficiencies and effectiveness, including the development and execution of policy, process, and system changes • Oversee all accounting functions, including the monthly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, and tax planning and compliance • Improve internal control guidelines, technical accounting policies, and procedures; implement proper financial controls • Set the direction for the finance modules of our ERP system to ensure the proper automation, auditability, and controls on our underlying data and records • Prepare timely and accurate consolidated financial statements and manage the cadence of financial reporting• Collaborate closely with FP& A on developing process that allows for closing speed and detailed management reporting needs • Manages cash; updates to the weekly cash forecast and approval of payments • Directs the maintenance and reconciliation of general and subsidiary ledgers, such as accounts receivable, assets, depreciation, and accrued accounts • Minimizes legal and financial exposure and establishes appropriate reserves through managing past due accounts receivable, excess and obsolete inventory • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems • Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls. • Cost accounting proficiency to include: o Analyzes operating results including business unit and product margins, manufacturing efficiencies and relevant variances.• Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. • Calculates and determines overhead burden rates o Plans, studies, and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training direct employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; encouraging employees whenever possible and disciplining as necessary; addressing complaints and resolving problems in coordination with the company’s HR department and direct superiors.Job Requirements:Education and/or Experience                                                         Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; CPA; and 10 to 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Language Skills                                                 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, detail oriented journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Mathematical Skills                                                         Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Reasoning Ability                                                              Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form. Computer Skills                                                 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with extensive knowledge in Excel requiredKnowledge of accounting and manufacturing software required.
