Heavy Civil Field Engineer (Water Resources)

We are currently seeking a long-term Construction Field Engineers for projects in the Pacific Northwest and Western regions.

This position is based out of our Boise, Idaho office and requires 100% travel.

The Construction Field Engineer provides project planning, scheduling, procurement, and related technical and administrative support to lead individuals on the project.

This position works closely with the project manager, superintendent, foremen and crews to support the overall needs of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Staffing and Personnel * Support the enforcement of strict discipline on the jobsite with respect to safety and workplace practices as defined by company policies and project requirements * Support the preparation and submission of time records * Attend daily labor cost report meetings and be able to talk about gains and losses and how to fix any issues * Support the completion of new hire paperwork * Assist in managing subcontractors, including sharing our expectations Project Execution * Thoroughly understand the scope of work, specifications, and drawings on assigned project * Support the administration of the project budget by reviewing and tracking daily costs and accruals, make recommendations to solve identified issues * Assist with daily plan, scheduling, and coordination * Procure materials and manage inventory * Prepare and maintain an overall project schedule and appropriate look-ahead schedules in Primavera * Participate in preparation of a monthly forecast-to-complete.

* Prepare and track RFIs, issue documentation forms, and potential contract change orders * Review and approve invoices * Support permitting * Prepare and submit project reports and maintain files * Help identify out of scope work and follow procedures to record, obtain approval, and execute the extra work * Review and verify inspection and testing plan compliance and quality in the field * Submittal review and tracking * Maintain commodity curves and update regularly * Review document control to endure we are building to the correct drawing revisions * Participate in the preparation and implementation of the project quality control plan * Maintain accurate quantity books and ensure the approved quantity claiming plan is followed * Perform daily quantity claiming and quantity reconciliation * Maintain a daily diary or log of work activities, meetings, and significant conversations or verbal directions * Maintain close contact and good working relationship with field crews and client representatives QUALIFICATIONS * Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, reading drawings, completing material and labor take-offs, understanding construction specifications, and using construction scheduling and drafting software * Must have excellent communication skills and related team-building skills required to instruct, motivate, and manage field employees and to communicate effectively with clients * Must work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation * Respectfully takes direction and adheres to feedback from site superintendent and project managers * Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance in accordance with project and company work hours * Must be able to travel and complete extended assignments in the field away from home * Strong computer skills with MS Office, Primavera is a plus, Heavy Job/Heavy Bid is a plus EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor’s degree is highly desired in the related fields of Construction Management or Engineering * 2
