The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Global Category Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC.

In this role, you will work as part of the Global Procurement team, which is organized into major spend categories including IT, Marketing Communications, Corporate Services, Global Workplace Solutions, Global Expense, and Travel.

You’ll be responsible for engaging Red Hat’s stakeholders, setting procurement strategies, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiating contracts, and managing strategic supplier relationships.

As a Global Category Manager, your work will involve developing key category management strategies and optimizing the purchase of goods and services for IT including hardware, hardware maintenance, software, telecommunications, and IT services.

Your success will be measured against business metrics like savings, stakeholder management, supplier management, and contract negotiation and management.Primary job responsibilitiesPartner with stakeholders and budget owners to support business requirements and develop a strategic global category planSupport stakeholders spend requirements and priorities by guiding procurement initiativesEstablish preferred suppliers and ensure that proper policies are followedGain knowledge of supplier markets, supply risk levels, assess supplier capabilities, and help define and improve Red Hat’s local, regional, and global panel of suppliersSelect supplier sources by guiding competitive sourcing activitiesForm contracts with selected suppliers to negotiate optimal terms and conditionsEstablish consumption-based engagement models and operationalize negotiated contracts Develop a strategy and approach to optimize key supplier partnerships and simplify the buying approach with rate cardsDefine supplier performance indicators, build and communicate related dashboards, and manage supplier performance for key suppliers via stakeholder feedback and performance-based metricsEnsure that appropriate business controls are in place to reduce risk and protect Red HatRequired skillsBachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field; MBA is a plus10+ years of procurement experience in IT category managementExtensive experience developing and leading strategic sourcing initiatives for IT and related purchases, with a solid focus and expertise in telecommunicationsSolid analytical skills in performing bid analysis, cost analysis, fair-value analysis, and scenario modelingExcellent problem solving skills with development and implementation of creative solutionsSolid experience with contract negotiations at senior levelsExperience building solid relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and suppliersProven ability to persuade a wide range of stakeholdersExperience leading multi-disciplined projects with minimal amount of supervisionExperience presenting complex ideas to management in a simplified mannerCustomer service oriented and ability to work well within a teamExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishAbout Red HatRed Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver reliable and high-performing Linux, hybrid cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
