This postdoctoral researcher will be a hands-on researcher in the various laboratories and will focus on identification and characterization of products from the reaction of gas mixtures exposed to ionizing radiation sources and the effect of radiation on materials and components used as catalysts and in electrochemical cells.

The main prerequisite for this postdoctoral appointment is expertise in experimental procedures for radiolysis and for the characterization of the effects of radiation on solid materials.

A successful candidate will have experience with planning and performing experimental studies designed to investigate the radiolytic behavior of gases and solid materials using ionizing radiation sources particularly, Co-60 gamma rays.

This will be complimented by a suite of analytical chemistry and materials characterization techniques, such as electron microscopy, UV-vis/NIR-IR/Raman spectroscopy and gas chromatography (GC).

The candidate will provide support to operating equipment and maintaining laboratories in safe and compliant conditions.The candidate is expected to be a strong asset to our interdisciplinary R& D team, expanding our research portfolio and expertise, in addition to working effectively both alone and as a team member.

The candidate must be self-motivated but also take direction from other team members and peers.

PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.* Education and experience must be in one or preferably more of the following physical sciences fields: Chemistry, Radiation Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Radiological Sciences, Materials Sciences, or Chemical Engineering with experience in radiolysis.* Must have 3+ years R& D laboratory research experience.* A successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to function as a high performer in a research environment, and/or on a research team.

Must have strong relationship building skills and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication.
