Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an IT Functional Analyst or Senior Analyst to join our Information Technology team. What does an IT Functional Analyst do for us?

Analyst:

With moderate supervision an IT Functional Analyst II works on domain specific solution(s)/application(s). Their primary functions include solution assessment and validation; elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements; design and documentation of solution(s); end user support; moderate troubleshooting and issue resolution; development and maintenance of basic reports and queries; basic system configuration.

This job resides within the IT organization.

Senior Analyst:

With minimal supervision, a Senior IT Functional Analyst works on domain specific solution(s/application(s) with strong business process and end to end technical knowledge. Their primary functions include: Act as the main liaison between technologists and stakeholders. Establish and maintain relationship with the designated business partners to support strategic objectives; facilitate solution assessment and validation and elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements translate and align solutions to meet IT strategy and business objectives; analyze and assist the business with defining and/or designing new business solutions design and documentation of solution(s); Create design and configuration prototyping, test and implement processes and new functionality; first line of support for end users; advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution; development and maintenance of complex reports and queries.

Understands complex technology and applications and has experience with a multitude of business processes and information systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Analyst:

Knowledge of:

  • Understanding of business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, elicitation, communication, analysis, application functionality and process modeling

Prefer:

  • Experience with adaptive and predictive project management methodologies
  • Experience with creating technical design specifications
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, and queries
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with configuration items and development objects

Skills in:

  • Moderate skills in requirements management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements, good verbal and written communication skills, meeting facilitation and negotiation
  • Ability to create and maintain business relationships
  • Basic skills in problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing expectations

Prefer:

  • Basic SQL capabilities
  • Proven experience with implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions

Ability to:

  • Manage projects/initiatives through business case development and requirements management
  • Interact and communicate clearly with technical personnel and project stakeholders
  • Aligning and fusing the business and IT strategies
  • Focus on the details without losing overall perspective of the larger goal
  • Maintains effectiveness when experiencing changes in work tasks or the work environment
  • Adjust efficiently to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Prioritizing course of action for self to ensure that work is managed effectively
  • Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create a solution that meets business objectives
  • Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end user and facilitate resolution by technical resources

Senior Analyst:

Knowledge of:

  • Strong understanding of business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, requirements elicitation, communication, analysis, advanced application functionality and process modeling
  • Experience with adaptive and predictive project management methodologies
  • Experience with creating technical design specifications
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, and queries
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with configuration items and development objects

Skills in:

  • Proven skills in requirements management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements, excellent verbal and written communication skills, meeting facilitation and negotiation
  • Ability to create and maintain business relationships. Strong skills in problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Basic SQL capabilities
  • Proven experience with implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions

Ability to:

  • Logical reasoning and analysis
  • Sound judgment and decision making
  • Understand table structures
  • Gather business requirements, interpret technical specifications and relate them to system functionality
  • Facilitate work sessions with stakeholders to design or redesign business processes to meet requirements
  • Manage assigned project tasks
  • Manage multiple technology projects/initiatives
  • Communicate clearly with technical personnel along with all levels of business leadership and project stakeholder
  • Prioritize course of action for self and others to ensure that work is managed effectively
  • Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create a solution that meets business objectives
  • Proactively identify potential issues before they impact end users
  • Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end users, assist in identification and implementation of resolution

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field of an equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 2 years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 1 year business analyst experience

Prefer:

  • 1 year supporting large ERP systems

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver’s license may be required based on business need (with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position)

Senior Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 3 years business analyst experience

Prefer:

  • 3 or more years IT experience supporting SAP ERP systems including at least one full lifecycle implementation

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver’s license may be required based on business need (with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Analyst:

Minimal supervision is provided. Completed work is intermittently reviewed. Some field work and possible overnight travel.

Senior Analyst:

Provide project leadership as needed. Periodic field work and possible overnight travel.
