This is a Full-time position in Eden, ID posted September 15, 2021.

General Manager

Travelers’ Oasis Truck Plaza-home of The Garden of Eden has been serving truckers, travelers’, and local customers for the past 42 years. We take pride in the fast-paced, fun nature of our Travel Center, serving our customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are currently building our new Travelers’ Oasis Truck Plaza and Garden of Eden at the same location directly behind the existing building. Upon completion of the new 33,000 square foot travel Plaza the existing building will be demolished. A new larger gasoline island and lots of parking will be created in its place. The new location at I-84, Exit 182, near Twin Falls, Idaho, will have six food venues inside plus a Sonic Burger drive thru window. A larger store with a broader line of groceries and a discount wine store will be added. A broad selection of gifts, souvenirs and truck and auto accessories will be offered for sale. Drivers will enjoy the new showers, laundromat, and lounge area. Everything will be new, state of the art and highlighted by our glass octagon grand entrance. Our current General Manager of 35 years will be retiring at yearend. We want the successful applicant to start on the job training this Fall and assist with opening the new store next Spring.

Job Duties:

  • This position is responsible for the efficient and effective management of all aspects of the travel center. These will include working with and supervising all department managers in all aspects of the business including purchasing, marketing, accounting, rewards system, safety, personnel, training, and customer service.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for controlling expenses, meeting sales objectives, and controlling budgets to maximize profits and must have a good understanding of financial statements.
  • The position is responsible for maintaining a great appearance of grounds and building and professional appearance and actions of staff.

Key personnel reporting to the General Manager will be:

1- The Corporate Director of Food and Beverage overseeing all food court, food production activities and the discount wine store.

2- Store and Fuel manager overseeing all functions involving store merchandise purchasing and selling; conducting regular department inventories; receiving and stocking; managing the fuel islands and customer service.

3-Maintenance Manager overseeing grounds, janitorial, equipment and building maintenance.

4-Controller and staff handling all daily bookkeeping, banking and cashier checkouts and preparing monthly financial reports.

5-Training Manager who will provide all new employees orientation and job training prior to performing their assigned job duties.

These key managers will supervise shift managers as well as employees reporting directly.

The General Manager will report to the company owners and interact as necessary with our other company business enterprises.

The General Manager is responsible for supervising all operations of the travel plaza. This position requires self-motivation and willingness to assist with any tasks that need to be executed to keep our facilities well-maintained and running smoothly. This person would be knowledgeable of truck stop/travel stop operations and committed to the quality and customer service as expected at all our locations.

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • Previous experience and/or working knowledge of travel center operations.
  • Work history that demonstrates dependability and commitment to the team.
  • Incredible customer service skills & the ability to help maintain a customer-focused culture.
  • Must be proficient with a calculator, computer, technological and other equipment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with different personnel from employees, customers, vendors, and corporate representatives.
  • Must be able to work a regular schedule with ability to be flexible when circumstances require schedule adaptations.
  • A college degree, although not required, would be beneficial.

As the General Manager, you must be able and willing to follow all company policies and safety practices to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for our guests and staff. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment screening, including a clean criminal record and pass a drug test and background check. Random drug testing during your employment may also be conducted. Salary negotiable
