Responsibilities Joining the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) means being part of the team focused on securing the Nation’s physical and cyber infrastructure against threats to public health and safety, economy, and national security. This is an agency-wide position, which is comprised of several geographically separated divisions with a nationwide force Infrastructure Security Division, Cybersecurity Division, Emergency Communications Division, National Risk Management Center and several organizational units. Typical work assignments include Determining and implementing cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation). Defining, establishing, and directing techniques for detecting host and network-based intrusions using intrusion detection technologies. Writing businessprocess documentation, developing models and graphics and making oral presentations to senior officials, conferences, and task forces. Overseeing and interfacing directly with agency and interagency leaders during cyber incidents of national significance. Directing and managing teamproject members effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, soliciting close teamwork and prioritizing competing projects to fulfill long and short-range goals. Responsible for the overall execution process including day to day management of activities for subordinate staff. Leading teams to respond to critical network intrusions in the federal government and the nation’s Critical Infrastructure. Assessing and providing strategic direction for resolution of mission-critical problems, policies, and procedures. Travel Required 25 or less – You may be expected to travel for up to 5 nights per month this position. Qualifications This is an open continuous announcement for 60 days, or until all positions are filled. It will be used to fill immediate and future vacancies for this agency. You qualify for the GS-15 grade level (starting salary 128,078.00) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies Attention to Detail-Leading the identification and evaluation of IT security risks. Customer Service-Responding to IT experts in the IT security community on cybersecurity threats and propose solutions. Oral Communication-Providing advice and guidance on cybersecurity and communication issues to senior management. Problem Solving-Overseeing and coordinating response to cyber incidents. In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level performing at least one of the following duties Providing direction on the implementation of IT security and cyber-security infrastructure requirement across an organization Making decisions or recommendations that influence organizational IT security policies, strategies or programs Collaborating on the development of long-range plans for IT security systems Directing activities in response to cyber security incidents and vulnerabilities for IT security systems Overseeing IT andor cyber security projects and services to meet internal and external customer requirements. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional philanthropic religious spiritual community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
